This week, Google announced Gemini 4 Argon on October 13, describing it as its latest frontier model for developers, enterprises, scientists and consumers. Google DeepMind also published safety and robotics posts for the model.

Open weights surge

The biggest cluster of news came from open-weight releases. Meta published Muse Spark Open on October 15 and Reflection followed with Beam on October 16, both very large mixture-of-experts models aimed at agentic coding. Liquid AI and IBM released smaller models for local and enterprise use.

Hardware and platforms

NVIDIA’s RTX Spark laptops became available on October 16, with Nemotron 3.5 Bolt 74B launching for local agents. Mistral, which had published Mistral Large 4 on October 6, added Timestral, a forecasting family.

What to watch

Independent benchmarks for Beam and Muse Spark Open, and real-world performance of local agents on RTX Spark hardware.
