Overview

Gemini Notebook is Google’s AI research and learning tool, known as NotebookLM until Google renamed it on July 16, 2026. Users upload sources such as PDFs, Google Docs and Slides, web pages, YouTube videos and audio files, and the assistant answers questions grounded in those sources, with references back to the passages it used. Google says it remains a standalone product while also syncing with notebooks in the Gemini app.

Things to consider

  • Answers are only as good as the sources you upload; check the cited passages.
  • Older guides and links still use the NotebookLM name.
  • Organizations should review Workspace data settings before uploading sensitive files.
